Email app passwords · NetEase Mail Create a NetEase Mail
Create a NetEase Mail
authorization password.
NetEase keeps mail-client access switched off until you enable it, and then requires an authorization password rather than your mailbox password.
Applies to 163.com, 126.com, yeah.net addresses.
Step by step
How to create your authorization password.
- Sign in to webmail at mail.163.com (or mail.126.com).
- Open 设置 → POP3/SMTP/IMAP from the top menu.
- Switch on the IMAP/SMTP服务 (and POP3 if you want it).
- Click 新增授权密码 (add authorization password) and follow the verification prompts.
- Copy the code and use it as the password in BlueMail.
Worth knowing
- The code can't be recovered later — only replaced with a new one.
- Use implicit SSL on ports 993/465. NetEase's own guide specifically warns against STARTTLS.
- On mobile you can also generate one in the 网易邮箱大师 app under 我 → 邮箱管理 → 第三方登录管理 → 通用授权码.
Using it in BlueMail
Add your NetEase Mail address in BlueMail and enter the password from the steps above where it asks for one — BlueMail fills in the server settings for you. Free on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
