Email app passwords · QQ Mail

Create a QQ Mail
authorization code.

QQ Mail ships with IMAP, POP and SMTP switched off, and even once enabled it never accepts your QQ password. Mail apps sign in with a 16-character authorization code instead.

Applies to qq.com addresses.

Step by step

How to create your authorization code.

  1. Sign in to QQ Mail webmail at mail.qq.com.
  2. Open 设置 → 账号与安全 → 安全设置 (settings → account & security → security settings).
  3. Click 开启服务 to switch the POP3/IMAP/SMTP service on.
  4. Click 生成授权码 (generate authorization code) and confirm your identity — with your QQ password, or by scanning the QR code in the QQ or WeChat app.
  5. Copy the 16-character code and use it as the password in BlueMail.

Worth knowing

  • The code is displayed only once. Manage or revoke codes under 设备管理 → 授权码管理.
  • Changing your QQ password expires every authorization code you've generated, so you'll need to create new ones.

Using it in BlueMail

Add your QQ Mail address in BlueMail and enter the password from the steps above where it asks for one — BlueMail fills in the server settings for you. Free on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
