Create a Virgin Media
app password.
IMAP and POP connections don't support Virgin Media's extra login protection, so Virgin Media issues a separate password for mail apps. Your My Virgin Media password will simply be rejected.
Applies to virginmedia.com, blueyonder.co.uk, ntlworld.com addresses.
Step by step
How to create your app password.
- Sign in to the My Virgin Media app.
- Go to Account settings, then Account details.
- Under Virgin Media Mail, tap Manage next to your app password.
- Tap Generate new App password and copy the password it shows.
- Enter that password in BlueMail (or any mail app) instead of your usual My Virgin Media password.
Worth knowing
- The same app password works in every app that reads your mail — but generating a new one invalidates the old one, so you'll need to update each app.
- Your normal password still signs you in at My Virgin Media and mail.virginmedia.com.
- Virgin Media only keeps mailboxes for active customers. If you've left Virgin Media, the address may already be closed.
Using it in BlueMail
Add your Virgin Media address in BlueMail and enter the password from the steps above where it asks for one — BlueMail fills in the server settings for you. Free on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
