Set up AOL
in any email app.

The correct IMAP, POP3 and SMTP settings for AOL. Use these with BlueMail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or any other mail client.

Instead of using AOL's webmail interface, you can use a mobile or desktop email app like BlueMail, Outlook, Apple Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird. Desktop email apps offer more features, faster access and offline reading. Your messages are right there even without a connection.

How to set up AOL in BlueMail

  1. Get BlueMail. Install BlueMail free on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows or Linux, or open web.bluemail.me in your browser.
  2. Add your account. Open BlueMail and tap Add Account, then choose Email.
  3. Sign in with your AOL address. Enter your full AOL email address and password.
  4. Let BlueMail find the settings. BlueMail detects the correct AOL servers automatically. If you're asked to enter them manually, use the settings below: incoming imap.aol.com and outgoing smtp.aol.com exactly as listed.
  5. Done. Your AOL inbox appears and stays in sync on every device you sign in on.

First, create an AOL app password

AOL doesn't accept your normal account password in IMAP and POP apps. If your app signs you in through AOL's own login page (BlueMail does), your usual password works there. For manual IMAP setup, generate an app password instead: sign in at login.aol.com, open Account Security, choose Generate app password, name your app and use the 16 character code it gives you in place of your normal password.

One-tap setup with BlueMail

You don't have to enter any of this by hand. BlueMail recognizes AOL automatically — just enter your email address and password, and we'll handle the rest. Available free on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
