Set up OptusNet (Optus)
in any email app.
The correct IMAP, POP3 and SMTP settings for OptusNet (Optus). Use these with BlueMail, Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird or any other mail client.
Instead of using optusnet.com.au's webmail interface, you can use a mobile or desktop email app like BlueMail, Outlook, Apple Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird. Desktop email apps offer more features, faster access and offline reading. Your messages are right there even without a connection.
How to set up optusnet.com.au in BlueMail
- Get BlueMail. Install BlueMail free on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows or Linux, or open web.bluemail.me in your browser.
- Add your account. Open BlueMail and tap Add Account, then choose Email.
- Sign in with your optusnet.com.au address. Enter your full optusnet.com.au email address and password.
- Let BlueMail find the settings. BlueMail detects the correct optusnet.com.au servers automatically. If you're asked to enter them manually, use the settings below: incoming mail.optusnet.com.au and outgoing mail.optusnet.com.au exactly as listed.
- Done. Your optusnet.com.au inbox appears and stays in sync on every device you sign in on.
Keep your OptusNet mailbox active
OptusNet email still runs on Optus's own servers — despite what some blogs claim, it was not moved to The Messaging Company (that migration was TPG, iiNet, Westnet and Internode). Keep using mail.optusnet.com.au with your full @optusnet.com.au address and your normal email password — no app password needed. One important caution: Optus is closing inactive mailboxes in waves (accounts unused for around six months get a log-in-by deadline), so sign in to webmail.optusnet.com.au from time to time to keep your address alive.
