Create a Frontier
Yahoo app password.
Frontier handed its email service to Yahoo in March 2024. Your @frontier.com address now lives on Yahoo, so the credential a mail app needs is a Yahoo app password — and Frontier support can no longer help with mail or passwords at all.
Applies to frontier.com, frontiernet.net addresses.
How to create your Yahoo app password.
- Sign in on the Yahoo Account Security page with your @frontier.com or @frontiernet.net address.
- Under External connections, choose Generate and manage app passwords.
- Enter a name for the app, then select Generate password.
- Copy the 16-character code and use it as the password in your mail app.
Worth knowing
- The old imap.frontier.com servers are retired — use Yahoo's servers with the app password.
- Adding the account in BlueMail as a Yahoo account signs you in through Yahoo directly, which avoids the app password altogether.
Or skip the Yahoo app password entirely
BlueMail signs in to Frontier through the provider's own login screen, the same way your browser does — so there's no code to generate, copy or replace later, and nothing breaks the next time you change your password. Free on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
