Email app passwords · Rogers

Create a Rogers
app password.

Rogers email runs on Yahoo's platform. A mail app that asks you to type a password (rather than opening Yahoo's login page) needs an app password — your Rogers account password won't authenticate over IMAP or POP.

Applies to rogers.com, nl.rogers.com addresses.

Step by step

How to create your app password.

  1. Open the Rogers Yahoo Account Security page and sign in with your @rogers.com address.
  2. Find External connections and choose Create app password.
  3. Name the app, then select Generate password.
  4. Use the 16-character code as the password in your mail app.

Worth knowing

  • App passwords survive changes to your main password; delete one to revoke that app's access.
  • Adding the account in BlueMail as a Yahoo account signs in through Yahoo itself and skips this entirely — the simpler route if your app supports it.
  • Rogers stopped issuing new email addresses in April 2024, but existing addresses continue to work.

Or skip the app password entirely

BlueMail signs in to Rogers through the provider's own login screen, the same way your browser does — so there's no code to generate, copy or replace later, and nothing breaks the next time you change your password. Free on iOS, Android, macOS, Windows and Linux.
