Instead of using mail.ru's webmail interface, you can use a mobile or desktop email app like BlueMail, Outlook, Apple Mail or Mozilla Thunderbird. Desktop email apps offer more features, faster access and offline reading. Your messages are right there even without a connection.
How to set up mail.ru in BlueMail
- Get BlueMail. Install BlueMail free on iOS, Android, Mac, Windows or Linux, or open web.bluemail.me in your browser.
- Add your account. Open BlueMail and tap Add Account, then choose Email.
- Sign in with your mail.ru address. Enter your full mail.ru email address and password.
- Let BlueMail find the settings. BlueMail detects the correct mail.ru servers automatically. If you're asked to enter them manually, use the settings below: incoming imap.mail.ru and outgoing smtp.mail.ru exactly as listed.
- Done. Your mail.ru inbox appears and stays in sync on every device you sign in on.
First, create a password for external apps
Mail.ru requires a dedicated password for external applications — your regular account password never works in mail apps, with or without two-factor authentication. A phone number must be linked to the account. In webmail open Настройки → Все настройки → Безопасность → Пароли для внешних приложений, click Создать, pick «Полный доступ к Почте» (full mail access) and use the generated password in BlueMail — it's shown only once. The same servers work for @inbox.ru, @list.ru, @bk.ru and @internet.ru addresses; your username is the full address.
