The Message View Theme setting lets you choose a specific theme for reading emails that can be different from your main app theme. This is helpful if you prefer reading emails with a light background while using dark mode for the rest of the app, or vice versa.
How to Find
- Open BlueMail
- Tap the menu icon
- Tap Settings
- Tap Dark Mode
- Look for the message view theme options
How to Use
- Navigate to the Dark Mode settings
- Find the message view theme section
- Choose your preferred option:
- Use Global: Message view uses the same theme as the rest of the app
- Dark: Always show emails in dark mode
- Light: Always show emails in light mode
Options Explained
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Use Global | The email reading view matches your app's overall theme setting |
| Dark | Emails are always displayed with a dark background, regardless of app theme |
| Light | Emails are always displayed with a light background, regardless of app theme |
Tips
- Use the Light option if you find dark backgrounds make emails harder to read
- Use the Dark option to reduce eye strain when reading emails at night while keeping the rest of the app in light mode during the day
- The Use Global option is recommended for a consistent experience throughout the app
Troubleshooting
The email view theme did not change
- Close the current email and open a new one
- Verify you selected the correct option in Settings
I cannot select a theme option
- The individual theme options may be disabled when Use Global is selected
- First turn off Use Global, then select your preferred theme
Theme changes but looks wrong
- Some email content may have embedded styles that override the theme
- HTML emails with inline styling may not fully respect theme settings
