Where archived emails go
Archiving does not delete an email. It moves the email out of your Inbox and into your account's Archive folder, where it stays for later access. For IMAP and Exchange accounts the archived email remains on the server, so you can still reach it from your other devices or your provider's web client. To open the folder, tap your account avatar at the top-left to open the Folder Drawer and choose Archive. See What is the difference between Delete and Archive?
The folder's name depends on your provider:
- Gmail and Google Workspace: Gmail keeps every message in All Mail, so archiving simply takes it out of your Inbox while the email stays right there, searchable and intact — no separate Archive folder needed. This behavior comes from Gmail itself and applies across email apps — see Gmail's All Mail folder.
- Other IMAP and Exchange accounts: archived emails go to whichever folder is set as the Archive folder under Settings | Accounts | [your account] | Folder Management | Folder Mapping. If archived emails are not where you expect in your webmail, check that mapping.
- POP3 accounts: folders do not sync with the server, so the Archive folder is local to your device — BlueMail creates it the first time you archive an email.
