This indicator shows whether your device supports biometric authentication (like Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint scanning) for unlocking BlueMail. If your device has biometric capabilities, you can use them for quick and secure access to your email.
How to Find
- Open BlueMail
- Tap the menu icon
- Tap Settings
- Tap Screen Lock or Privacy & Security
- Look for the biometric unlock option (Face ID, Touch ID or Fingerprint)
How It Works
This is not a setting you can change - it automatically detects whether your device has biometric hardware:
- Available: You will see options to enable Face ID, Touch ID or Fingerprint unlock
- Not Available: Biometric options will be grayed out or not shown
Why It Matters
| Status | What You See | What It Means |
|---|---|---|
| Available | Biometric toggle is enabled | Your device supports biometric unlock |
| Not Available | Option is grayed out or missing | Your device lacks biometric hardware |
Tips
- If biometrics are available, enable them for the fastest way to unlock BlueMail
- You can still use a passcode even if biometrics are available
- Biometric unlock is in addition to your passcode, not a replacement
- Each device detects its own capabilities - your phone might have Face ID while your tablet uses fingerprint
Troubleshooting
The biometric option is grayed out
- Your device may not have biometric hardware
- Check that you have enrolled at least one fingerprint or face in your device settings
- Verify biometrics are enabled in your device's main Settings app
I have biometrics on my device but BlueMail does not recognize them
- Make sure biometrics are set up in your device's system settings first
- Restart BlueMail after setting up biometrics
- Check if your device's biometric sensor is working properly
Biometrics stopped working suddenly
- Too many failed attempts may have locked biometrics temporarily
- Clean your fingerprint sensor or ensure nothing is blocking the Face ID camera
- Enter your passcode to unlock, then try biometrics again
I do not want to use biometrics even though they are available
- Simply do not enable the biometric switch in Screen Lock settings
- You can use passcode-only authentication instead
