GemAI Writer drafts a new email from a short prompt, or proofreads what you already wrote. It runs inside the compose window without leaving the screen.
How to Find
- Open BlueMail
- Tap Compose or open a reply
- Look at the compose toolbar:
- Pen / Writer icon opens GemAI Writer in generate mode
- Checkmark icon opens GemAI Writer in proofread mode
The buttons only appear when GemAI is enabled in Settings > Advanced > Enable GemAI.
How to Use
Generate a new email
- Tap the Writer icon in the compose toolbar
- Type a short prompt describing what you want to say
- Wait for the typewriter animation to finish
- Tap Use to insert the draft into your message, or Retry to generate a different version
Proofread the current draft
- Write your message as usual
- Tap the Proofread icon
- Review the corrected version and tap Use to replace your text
Reply with context
When you generate a draft in a reply, a Context toggle lets the AI read the email thread before drafting. Turn it off if you want the AI to ignore the conversation.
Options
Tap the gear icon inside the GemAI Writer sheet to open advanced options:

Tips
- The Context toggle is the fastest way to make replies match the thread's tone
- Try Shorter length when you only need one or two sentences
- The Proofread action is non-destructive, you can always retry or close without saving
- GemAI Writer counts toward your daily GemAI limit, so use it for the messages that matter
Troubleshooting
I don't see the Writer or Proofread buttons in compose
- Check Settings > Advanced > Enable GemAI, it might be off
- Make sure your account is allowed to use GemAI, some managed accounts have it disabled by the admin
The draft is cut off or looks incomplete
- Tap Retry for a fresh attempt
- If the thread is very long, turn off the Context toggle, the AI may be running out of room to read everything
"No tries left" appears when I try to generate
- Free accounts get a daily cap across all GemAI actions
- Wait until the next day, or upgrade to remove the limit
Output language is wrong
- Open the language picker in the sheet header and select the language you want
- Some less-common languages may produce shorter or less polished drafts
