Mail.ru doesn't accept your normal password in BlueMail: mail.ru, bk.ru, inbox.ru, list.ru, internet.ru and xmail.ru addresses need a пароль для внешнего приложения (password for an external application). Your mailbox needs a linked phone number first.
Steps to Create a Mail.ru App-Specific Password
- Sign in to Mail.ru in a web browser: e.mail.ru.
- Open Настройки (Settings, lower left) | Все настройки (All settings) | Безопасность (Security) | Пароли для внешних приложений (Passwords for external applications), or open account.mail.ru.
- Select Создать (Create). If Mail.ru offers its paid Mail Space для работы (Mail Space for work) plan instead, you need that plan for this password.
- Name it, for example BlueMail, and select Продолжить (Continue).
- Choose Полный доступ к Почте (Full access to Mail), then Продолжить.
- Copy the password: you can't view it later.
- In BlueMail, enter this password instead of your normal Mail.ru password: when you add the account, or for an account already in BlueMail, under Settings | Accounts | [your account] | Update Password.
Mail.ru blocks mail apps unless Доступ к почте по IMAP, POP и SMTP (Access to mail via IMAP, POP and SMTP) under Безопасность | Внешние сервисы (External services) is on.
