To mark an email as high priority, tap the 3-dot menu on the Compose screen and select High Priority.
Set it per message, before you send. It applies to that email only, and there is no account-wide setting that marks everything you send as important.
What It Actually Does
High Priority sets the priority header on the message. It is a flag that travels with the email and tells the recipient's mail app that this one matters.
It does not make the email arrive any faster. Delivery speed is decided by the mail servers along the way, and they treat a high-priority message exactly like any other. What changes is how it is presented once it lands.
What the Recipient Sees
That is up to their mail app, not yours. The header is a request, and every client honors it differently:
- Many, including Outlook, show a marker such as a red exclamation mark.
- BlueMail shows a high-priority marker in the icons at the top right of the row, so it stands out before you open it. See What is the Arrow on the Avatar?
- Some clients ignore the flag altogether and display the email normally.
So use it to signal urgency, but do not rely on it being visible to everyone. If something is genuinely time-critical, say so in the subject line as well, since that is the one thing every mail app displays.
