How to Turn Off the Unread Messages Notification?

Android

Alongside the notification you get for each new email, BlueMail can post a single silent summary notification titled Info, reading Unread messages: N. It makes no sound and no vibration, and it appears in the Silent section of the notification shade.

Its job is to keep the unread count badge on the app icon: on current Android versions the launcher only shows a badge while the app has an active notification, so this one stays behind after you dismiss or open your individual email notifications.

If you don't need it, you can dismiss it for good from the notification itself.

Turning It Off

  1. Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the notification shade.
  2. Find the BlueMail Info notification in the Silent section.
  3. Tap the arrow () on the right-hand side to expand it.
  4. Tap Don't show again.
Notification shade → expand the Info notification → Don't show again

The notification disappears right away, and BlueMail stops posting it on that device.

What This Does and Doesn't Change

  • Your new-email notifications are not affected. You keep getting a notification for each incoming email, with the same sound, vibration and preview settings as before. To change those, see Notifications Explained.
  • The app icon badge may stop reflecting your unread mail. Because this notification is what anchors the badge, hiding it can leave the app icon without an unread count once your email notifications are cleared. See How to Configure the App Icon Counter (Badge)? and, if your launcher doesn't support badges at all, the widget alternatives.
