GemAI has two halves, and they behave differently — worth knowing if you care about when AI touches your mail.
The actions you invoke. Summarize, Reply, Proofread and Translate only ever run when you tap them on a particular email or in a compose window. Nothing happens to an email you don't act on.
Summaries generated for you. Separately, BlueMail can produce summaries on its own so your mail list can show a summary instead of the first line of each message, and so What is GemAI Hub? has something ready when you open it. This one is not triggered by tapping anything. If you would rather it did not happen at all, turn GemAI off — see how to disable GemAI.
Auto generate in GemAI Hub goes further and prepares draft replies in batches without asking each time. It is a premium setting and it is off unless you switch it on.
The generation described above runs on your device, so those messages are not sent to a server to be processed. GemAI Hub also offers optional cloud-based features for more advanced requests; those are a separate choice you make — see What is GemAI Hub?.
