Antivirus Integration

At BlueMail, your security is our top priority. Our desktop application features an advanced antivirus integration designed to protect you from malicious attachments. This system identifies and neutralizes potential threats, ensuring your computer remains secure.

Below, we outline two common scenarios you may encounter related to email attachments and our security protocols.

Scenario 1: An Unsafe Attachment is Blocked by BlueMail

The BlueMail desktop client is equipped with an integrated security scanner that automatically reviews incoming attachments. If a file is identified as malicious, BlueMail immediately blocks access to safeguard your system.

In this event, a notification will be clearly displayed within the email:

"BlueMail blocked access to the following potentially unsafe attachments:” — followed by the filename(s).

This message serves as confirmation that BlueMail's security measures have successfully protected you from a potential threat. The blocked attachment cannot be opened or saved.

Scenario 2: An Attachment is Missing or Fails to Download

You may occasionally find that an attachment referenced in an email is not present or cannot be downloaded. This issue is typically caused by third-party antivirus software on your computer or a network security filter that removes the attachment before it reaches the BlueMail application.

When this occurs, BlueMail may display a message to inform you that the file is unavailable:

"This attachment could not be downloaded or has been removed."

This indicates that the attachment could have been removed by an external security system.

  • When BlueMail blocks an attachment: No further action is required on your part. We advise against attempting to source the file from the sender unless its safety can be independently verified.

  • When an attachment is missing:

    1. Please check the quarantine folder of your local antivirus software (e.g. Avast, McAfee, Norton), as the file may have been isolated there.
    2. For corporate accounts, your IT department can confirm if the attachment was removed by the mail server in accordance with company security policies.
    3. If the file is from a trusted source, you may request the sender to share it via a secure cloud service.
