How to Exclude BlueMail from the Doze Feature and Other Battery Management Services

Android

Both your Android Operating System and your Device's specific ROM have "battery management" services that can interfere with BlueMail's Instant Push Notifications and response time (among other features). Please see below how to easily whitelist BlueMail from these services.

Disable Battery Optimization for Specific Apps

  1. Go to Settings on your Android device.
  2. Tap Apps, then select BlueMail (or find it under See all apps).
  3. Tap App battery usage.
  4. Tap Allow background usage.
  5. Select Unrestricted. This lets BlueMail run in the background without being restricted by Doze mode or other battery management, at the cost of using more battery.
Settings → Apps → BlueMail → App battery usage → Unrestricted

Exact labels and menu depth vary by manufacturer and Android version — some devices show Battery or Battery and device care with an Unrestricted/Optimized/Restricted picker directly, others nest it under Advanced.

Low Power Mode Can Still Stop Push and Sync

Even with BlueMail set to Unrestricted, your device's low power mode (called Battery Saver, Power saving or Low power mode, depending on the manufacturer) can close BlueMail's background processes to save battery. While it's on, push notifications may arrive late or not at all, and new mail may only sync when you open BlueMail.

  1. Go to Settings → Battery (on Samsung: Battery and device care → Battery).
  2. Turn off Battery Saver, Power saving or Low power mode.
  3. If it switches on by itself at a set battery level, turn off that schedule — otherwise expect delayed mail whenever it kicks in.

Extreme modes such as Extreme Battery Saver, Ultra power saving or Maximum power saving pause almost every app. If yours lets you choose apps that keep running, add BlueMail.

Checking for Background Restrictions

  1. In Settings, go to Apps or See all apps.
  2. Select an app to adjust and look for any settings related to battery or background usage.
  3. Users can often choose to allow unrestricted background data or activity for specific apps.

Manufacturer-Specific Battery Managers

Many device manufacturers layer their own "battery management" services on top of Android's, and these are the most common cause of delayed or missing push notifications. The steps below are the ones our support team walks users through — exact menu names shift between OS versions, so treat them as a close map rather than an exact path.

Samsung (One UI)

  1. Go to Settings → Battery and device care → Battery and disable Power saving mode.
  2. Under Background usage limits, set BlueMail to Unrestricted — and make sure it isn't in the Sleeping or Deep sleeping app lists.
  3. Also check Settings → Apps → BlueMail → Battery → select Unrestricted.
  4. On Android 13 and later, watch out for Put unused apps to sleep — it can restrict BlueMail after just a few days of not opening the app.
  5. Optionally, open Recent apps, long-press the BlueMail icon and lock it, so it isn't cleared in the background.

Xiaomi (MIUI / HyperOS)

  1. Go to Settings → Battery & performance and disable Battery saver for BlueMail.
  2. Go to Settings → Apps → Manage apps → BlueMail: enable Autostart, and under Battery choose No restrictions.

OPPO (ColorOS)

  1. Go to Settings → Battery → App battery management (on some versions: App power management), select BlueMail and choose Allow background activity / Don't optimize.
  2. In BlueMail's app settings, allow Auto-launch so the app can start in the background after a reboot.

Huawei (EMUI)

  1. Go to Settings → Battery and disable Power Saving and Ultra Power Saving modes.
  2. Under App launch, switch BlueMail to Manage manually and enable all three: Auto-launch, Secondary launch, and Run in background.

Sony

  1. Disable Stamina mode and Adaptive battery.
  2. Go to Settings → Apps & Notifications → Advanced → Special app access → Power saving feature and set BlueMail as Excepted.

Asus

  1. Go to Settings → Battery and disable PowerMaster optimizations, and allow BlueMail in the Auto-start manager.
  2. Go to Settings → Apps & notifications → Special app access → Battery optimization and set BlueMail to Not optimized.

If your manufacturer isn't listed, apply the generic steps at the top of this page — the setting almost always lives under the device's battery or power-management menus. Afterwards, check your push status to confirm Instant Push is healthy.
