If BlueMail says "incorrect username or password" (or "bad username or password") while you're adding an IMAP/POP3 account, your provider's server received the sign-in and rejected that exact username-and-password combination. There are only two real causes: what you typed is wrong, or your provider never accepts your normal password in a mail app and issues a separate one instead.
1. Check what you typed
- Use your full email address as the username — not a short account name.
- Type the password by hand instead of relying on auto-fill.
- Sign in to your webmail with the same password. If webmail rejects it too, the password itself is wrong — reset it with your provider (see Reset Password), then use the new one in BlueMail.
2. Your provider may want an app-specific password
This is the most common cause when the password is definitely right. Many providers no longer accept your normal password from a mail app — especially with two-factor authentication switched on — and instead issue a separate app-specific password from their security settings. Generate one there and enter it in BlueMail in place of your normal password.
Step-by-step pages exist for iCloud and GMX, and Why Won't My Account Add? Quick Fixes is a single table of providers — find your address, and it tells you whether yours needs an app password and where to create it.
Seeing a different message?
NOT_AUTHORIZED/ 'not-authorized' — a different problem: the provider is refusing the sign-in method itself, not your password. See Not Authorized.IMAP_DISABLED— see IMAP Disabled.- Any other error, or no error at all — Can't Add My Account lists every message and its page.
Password definitely right, still failing?
Work through the Things to check list in Can't Add My Account — it covers the shared causes (IMAP/POP3 switched off at the provider, SSL/TLS settings, firewalls and VPNs). If you're still stuck, email support@bluemail.me with your provider and the exact error you see.
