A BlueMailX account is a mailbox on BlueMail's own service, an address ending in @bluemailx.com. There are two things you might want to do, and the app has a row for each.
Setting a new password
To choose a new password for the account itself, use Reset Password:
- Go to Settings | Accounts.
- Tap your @bluemailx.com account.
- Tap Reset Password and follow the steps.
BlueMail checks that you have a recovery email address first, since that is what proves the account is yours, and walks you through adding one if you have not set it up yet. See How do I update my recovery email?.
You can also reset from the BlueMail Account Portal in a browser, which is handy if you are not signed in on a device right now. Either route ends with the same new password; see Can you Reset My Password?.
Telling BlueMail your current password
Update Password is the other row, and it does something different: it hands BlueMail the password so the account can sign in again. That is what you want after changing the password somewhere else, or if the account has stopped syncing and is asking to be re-authenticated.
- Go to Settings | Accounts.
- Tap your @bluemailx.com account.
- Tap Update Password.
- Type the password in the dialog. The eye icon shows what you are typing, so you can check it before you commit. Tap OK.
Other account types
For a mailbox from any other provider (Gmail, your ISP, a work address), the password lives with that provider, so you change it in their account settings and then use Update Password to pass it on to BlueMail. Reset Password is specific to accounts on BlueMail's own service, which is why it appears only on those. See How to Update my Account's Password?.
